Our promise

Our Community Promise Promise

The Hobby Horse Hub UK is a home for families, young riders, clubs and organisers across the United Kingdom. We keep it kind, safe and encouraging — for every rider, at every level.

Our five principles

  • Kindness first

Speak to others the way you'd want to be spoken to. A kind comment can make someone's whole day.

  • Respect everyone

Respect every rider, horse, club and family — whatever their age, background, ability or experience.

  • Include everyone

There is room for everyone here. Welcome newcomers, cheer on beginners, and never leave anyone out.

  • Encourage each other

Celebrate every clear round, first show and brave try. Progress matters more than podiums.

  • Positive language

Choose words that lift others up. Constructive, friendly and honest — never cruel or mocking.

  • Keep it safe

Never share personal details of other riders, especially children. Ask permission before posting photos of others.

We celebrate supportive behaviour

When you cheer someone on, help a newcomer or share encouragement, our moderators notice — and so does the community. Kindness is what makes this hub special.

  • Leaving a supportive comment on a first-competition post
  • Welcoming a new rider to your club
  • Sharing tips generously with beginners
  • Applauding effort, not just results

What isn't allowed

We have zero tolerance for behaviour that makes anyone — especially children — feel unwelcome or unsafe.

  • Bullying, name-calling or mocking any rider, horse or club
  • Excluding others or forming unkind cliques
  • Rude, hostile or aggressive comments
  • Sharing personal information about other people without permission
  • Discrimination of any kind — including on age, ability, background, gender or identity
  • Inappropriate content, language or images

A safeguarding-friendly space

This platform is designed for families and young riders. Parents can manage their child's profile, privacy and messaging preferences at any time. Children's accounts are protected by extra safeguards in line with UK GDPR-K and COPPA principles. If anything ever feels wrong, tell a trusted adult and use the report tool below.

Reporting tools

Every post, comment, profile and photo has a report link. Reports are confidential — the person you report will never see who reported them.

  1. 1Tap the ⚑ report link near the content that worries you.
  2. 2Choose a reason (bullying, unsafe, inappropriate, other).
  3. 3Add a short note if you'd like — it helps our moderators.
  4. 4Our safeguarding team reviews every report, usually within 24 hours.

Thank you for helping keep the hub kind. Speaking up protects everyone.

How moderation works

Reports go into a moderation queue reviewed by our safeguarding-trained team. Depending on what we find, we may leave a friendly reminder, remove content, pause an account or, for serious concerns, contact the appropriate authorities.

  • Friendly reminder

For small slips — a nudge to reread our promise.

  • Content removed

For posts that break the guidelines.

  • Account paused

For repeated or serious behaviour, while we review.

  • Escalation

For any safeguarding concern involving a child, we act immediately.
